Magical Musicals!!!

As you may or may not have guessed I am obsessed with musicals and anything with dancing that was choreographed from the heart. I'm just your average musical girl singing and dancing my way through life. Though I have noticed that some people do find it weird when I sing what I say and do a little jig and unfortunately not many join in but there are some who join in and gather a crowd  until there is a classical flash mob happening. Well today I will make a lovely list (I do love my lists) of all of the musicals I have seen, well the ones I can remember anyway.

Those are all of the films that I believe to be of a musical nature and all of the ones I can remember. Well I hope that you comment saying if you have seen any of these or comment suggesting other musicals (I like cheesy mgm musicals like Two Weeks With Love or something like Kiss Me Kate which isn't really cheesy).

The Carol Burnett Show (1967-1978)

For a while I have been watching a tremendous amount of the lovely Carol Burnett. She is just hilarious I would even go as far as saying that I prefer her show to the also amazing and lovely, Lucille Ball's "I Love Lucy" (but only slightly). I found out about this show when I was looking up facts about Gone With The Wind on imdb and they said that this show did a parody of GWTW and this interested me because no modern show would do this so I presumed it to be an older show. I then watched the parody and fell in love. She parodies a lot of classic films like National Velvet, The Heiress, Babes In Arms and Rebecca. The show was made in the 1960's and went through to the 1970's and never lost any of it comedy. They do other sketches besides classic films which are genius. Carol Burnett is the queen of comedy and the show was very popular when it aired but now I feel that a lot of people haven't heard about her and they need to see this show just to keep its memory alive and see what real comedy is.

This is the parody of GWTW called Went With The Wind , this is the famous curtain dress.

Saturday Night Fever (1977)

I know it isn't exactly a film you may expect me to post about on here but I felt I needed to voice my opinion on this film. Saturday Night Fever is a favourite of mine for its rebellious style, drama, costumes and yes the dancing. This film was a hit with its fantastic Bee Gees soundtrack and toe tapping dance routines. It is vulgar, but in its own little way it is charming. It reminds me of the film Fame (1980) quite a lot with all of the dancing and drama.

A Few Things I Love About Saturday Night Fever

1. How effortlessly cooooool it is I mean the beginning with John Travolta walking down the street with a tin of paint and an effortlessly cool walk is just perfect.
2. The suit. Yes the "everyone's heard of it, everyone's seen it and everyone will still be talking about it in 20 years" white suit. With a garish collar and bell bottoms what could be any cooler than this suit. Its the kind of suit that you either only see in this film or on a drunk uncle impersonating John Travolta (without success) at any of these events, weddings, stag nights, hen nights, 18th birthday party, 21st birthday party, new years eve etc. Yet they wont wear it at any of their special occasions because it will embarrass them (fair, I think not).
3. The Bee Gees need I say more. They are to cool for school.
4. (**spoiler**) When Bobby died I cried my eyes out.

My Saturday Night fever Pet Peeve

The ending oh the ending. They end with the repulsive "let's be friends"

I sat there like...

Then the credits started to roll and I was not a happy little munch-kin


Then for no apparent reason I just burst out crying


That ending was just disappointing  The entire film was built up and then gone within a second, they waved goodbye to romance and with it went my soul...goodbye
